Euregio.Net celebrates 5 million pageviews/month

Eupen, 3rd September 1999. Euregio.Net SA/NV, the Internet Service Provider in the German-speaking part of Belgium, served more than 5 million pageviews in August 1999. This places Euregio.Net among the top sites of all Belgian websites.
According to Euregio.Net's own statistics, August 1999 has been the busiest month for it servers since it went online on August 28, 1995. Last month, more than 34 million hits were registered on Euregio.Net's servers in Eupen and the USA. This means that Euregio.Net served more than 115 gigabytes of data to more than 445,000 hosts around the world - through the use of mirror servers in the USA (MAE-East, Virginia) the East-Belgian Internet lines had an average traffic of only 25 percent.
"During the past 4 years, we spent a lot of time and money to built our infrastructure and increase our brand awareness", said Hubert Savelberg, general manager of Euregio.Net. "Our traffic has doubled since the beginning of the year: having had 5 million pageviews on our 4th anniversary is a great motivation and we'll continue investing in our infrastructure and know-how." Because of the rapid evolution of the Internet, the team of Euregio.Net is required to constantly adapt, learn and look out for new trends and technologies: 15 years of experience in the digital and online publishing field certainly help with this.
Joe Savelberg, online producer of Euregio.Net, noted several reasons for the increase in traffic: "The total solar eclipse on August 11 help to increase the traffic. Our weather information at <http://www.hetweer.org> was very popular as well as the live Internet broadcast of the solar eclipse." The record of August 11 was broken 2 days later, when Euregio.Net launched a global online advertising campaign for its entertainment sites. On Friday, 13th August, more than 266,000 pageviews in 24 hours were registered by Euregio.Net's servers. At the end of the month, some of the entertainment pages were listed on the homepage of webcrawler.com and received the "Silver Platter Award" from Ask Jeeves, another popular search engine.
Euregio.Net hosts websites for small and medium-sized businesses in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and East-Belgium as well as some international companies. The company also creates its own information pages and entertainment sites which make up the bulk of the pageviews.

Euregio.Net celebrates 20 millionth visitor
The Internet is growing fast and faster and is gaining worldwide popularity. The staff and clients of Euregio.Net were able to witness this from the front row. On August 8th at 8:30 PM, the Euregio.Net web server <http://www.euregio.net> served its 20 millionth page. It has accomplished this in less than 3 years since it went online.
Currently, more than 1.8 pages are served by the East-Belgian Internet server to more than 500,000 different visitors from 150 countries and territories. This is mainly due to the large variety of information that's available on the server. Euregio.Net is becoming more and more the worldwide display window for East-Belgium.
The server of Euregio.Net contains general information as well as information about very specific topics, like child protection, horoscope index, database of stolen computers,... Local and regional information is available about tourism, education, trade and commerce as well as the East-Belgium Business Database containing descriptions of more than 550 East-Belgian companies as well as the registry of East-Belgian associations. Besides this, the server contains also all issues of the local newspaper Grenz-Echo since February 1996.

Euregio.Net feiert 20 Millionen Besucher
Das Internet wächst immer schneller und wird immer beliebter. Dies haben die Mitarbeiter und Kunden von Euregio.Net AG am eigenen Leibe miterleben können. Am vergangenen 8. August um 20:30 Uhr hat der Server von Euregio.Net (http://www.euregio.net) seine 20 millionste Seite verschickt - und dies in nur 35 Monaten, seitdem der Server ans Netz ging.
Inzwischen werden jeden Monat mehr als 1.8 Millionen Seiten vom ostbelgischen Internet Server an mehr als 500.000 Besucher aus 150 Ländern geschickt.
